Shamira Drice (she/her) Registered Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor

  • I believe that providing an open space for your emotional vulnerability and following you at your pace is the key to the onset of anyone's healing journey. When appropriate for your needs, I incorporate practical tools established in evidence-based modalities to further assist you towards reaching your reported goals. I take a strengths-based approach to ensure that your inner strengths are being accessed and cultivated. As a warm and genial human, I work in collaboration with my clients in the therapy room - welcoming their feedback to help guide the therapeutic process.

Everyone is unique and therefore, there is a unique blend of various approaches and philosophies that will best serve each person. Saint Paul University

I am set to complete a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling and Spirituality from Saint Paul University in Spring 2024.

    Research & Previous Experience

Prior to starting my formal education in psychology and psychotherapy, I completed a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and has worked in clinical research laboratories for over 5 years. In my undergraduate studies, I worked in two laboratories as a research assistant and was part of a publication in the Journal of Cellular Physiology in June 2020. My experience in these clinical research settings developed my critical thinking skills and my ability to integrate many different sources of information into a more cohesive and holistic perspective for my clients.

I then took a leap and accepted a project management position in San Diego where I worked as a facilitator to support mental health and wellness events and retreats around the world. During my experience supporting these events, I felt connected to the meaningful work that I observed and facilitated and decided to return to Ottawa to add a Minor in Psychology to my BSc in order to then pursue her Master’s in Counseling and Spirituality at Saint Paul University.

The current MA program that I am pursing emphasizes the integration of all the many parts of humans including the mind, body, and a third element of spirituality (when present for the client). Having a spiritually integrated model can mean many things and does not preclude those who find themselves in a secular framework but allows for the scaffolding needed when talking about meaning and purpose in our lives.

    Clinical Experience

My Direct Client Contact (DCC) experience as a Psychotherapy Intern under supervision has been ongoing since November of 2022 at Saint Paul University’s Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre. My clinical experience at Drice Psychotherapy began in May 2023.
