Therapist and Supervisor, Shamira Drice

Hello and welcome!

My name is Shamira (pronounced like Shakira, but with an M replacing the K). I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and Clinical Supervisor.

I accompany individual adults (18+) on their journey to enhance their ability to live with experiences that align with symptoms of ADHD, anxiety disorders, and relational trauma. My goal as a therapist is to provide meaningful support that promotes lasting improvements to mental health and emotional well-being. My approach integrates emotional deepening, insightful exploration, practical takeaways, your strengths and inner resources.

As a supervisor, I find myself drawn to offering support to novice therapists of colour (interning or qualifying) manage the particular challenges of our role. The supervisory atmosphere with me promotes reflective practice, support, confidence building, and professional development. Supervisees can expect a supportive space where they can explore their questions, share victories, attend to areas that require our focus and vent about challenges.

  • Depression and low mood can lead to experiences of persistent sadness, negative thinking, loneliness, loss of interest and despair. Therapy can help individuals cope with depression and low mood through emotional processing, self compassion, cognitive restructuring, and practical tools.

  • Our Mission

Drice Psychotherapy is a psychotherapy practice of mental health professionals who share a common set of values and principles which are grounded in compassion, inclusion, high-quality standards of care, and professional practice. Our practice is a safe space all communities, like, African, Caribbean, and Black identifying individuals, People of Colour, the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and those with learning and thinking differences. Our mission is to serve the well-being and growth of all as we intend to cultivate the care necessary for our community. Regardless of your path, you are welcome here at Drice Psychotherapy.

  • Our Vision

The therapists at Drice Psychotherapy have lived experiences as individuals from racialized communities and immigrant families. Some of us identify as queer, or live with learning differences, or have once lived in poverty. Because of our journeys, we can understand and empathize with the complex barriers involved in accessing safe, destigmatized, and culturally relevant mental health services. Our vision is to assist in the dismantling of those barriers that limit access in the certain communities that do not often seek mental health services, as a result of said barriers.

  • Our Approach

We engage in a collaborative approach with clients; focusing on their strengths as a basis for deepening the awareness of their thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and needs in order to identify a personalized path for healing and growth. Our belief lies in the notion that the psychotherapy space requires trust, vulnerability, and commitment. Our therapists are dedicated to providing a safe and confidential environment so our clients can explore their thoughts and feelings, and work towards achieving their personal goals. Each individual is unique and that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Therefore, we tailor your journey with us to fit your specific needs and goals. Our therapists are licensed and certified mental health professionals who specialize in a range of therapeutic approaches like; Attachment-based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Self Compassion. We affirm the importance of employing evidence based methods and upholding professional standards of practice for our clients’ safety.
